Tranent and Preston Village Cricket Club News story

New For Season 2017

21 Oct 2016

Meadowmill Sport Centre looks a bit different now after the latest phase of cricket related developments. Tranent Cricket Club moved to the centre in 2013 after securing funding from Sported and sponsors Hutchinson Networks and The Scott Glynn Experience. This funding enabled the club to lay an artificial wicket for use in senior and junior games.

Since then there has been an explosion of interest in cricket with Tranent and surrounding villages to the extent that we now run 3 Saturday competitive sides and 2 midweek social sides.

Partnership working with East Lothian Council, Cricket Scotland, Last Man Stands, Enjoy Leisure and East Lothian County Cricket has lead to the next phase in club developments where a second artificial pitch and a two lane artificial net have been laid.

This is not the end of cricket aspirations for Tranet CC however. In 2017 there are plans in place for a combined side to compete in the East of Scotland Divisions with local neighbours Preston Village. Plans have now notched up for a sports pavilion to be erected. If you want to get involved there is no better time.
