Finally the cricket season has begun.
The 1st XI travelled to Arboretum to face Holy Cross in their only preseason game. Captain Findlay won the toss and opted to bowl first. Some good tight bowling restricted Holy Cross to 152. 3for34 for Dougie Russell was the pick of the bowlers.
In reply the TPV innings got off to a solid start with a 48 run opening partnership but after a regular fall of wickets and a dramatic finish TPV missed out by 6 runs. David King 30 and Paul Dance 29 were the top run scorers.
The 2nds and 3rds played two 15 over matches against each other, the 2nds coming out victories in both matches firstly by 3 runs and then by 11 runs. Some standout performers with the bat from the two games were Scott Russell 30*, Alistair Dobbie 24* and Sam Booker 19*. The best of the bowlers were James Griffiths 3for8 and Neil Snudden 2for10.
This weekend sees the start of the league campaign for all three teams the 1sts travel to Campbell Park to face Edinburgh CC 2nds, the 2nds host Dunnikier 2nds at Polwarth and finally the 3rds travel to across the bridge to face Glenrothes 3rds.
