01 Apr 2011

Tranent CC wish to announce that after their initial season in the East of Scotland League they will change their name to East Lothian County Cricket Club.

In addition the club will leave their Tranent base and reform in the estate of Yester House, nr Gifford. The club will now be gifted the use of 2 playing pitches, changing rooms, clubhouse and use of the estates fitness suite. The club will also benefit from a 5 year sponsorship deal that can only be described as being incredibly generous.

At last nights extraordinary general meeting the members narrowly voted to accept the terms imposed by the new owner of Yester House. The legal representatives of Stefanie Germanota wished to place certain playing conditions upon the club including the name change but also including playing attire.

Club Captain, Mark Anderson, confirmed that the club was presented with a fantastic opportunity to develop cricket within East Lothian and one which the members of Tranent debated until agreement could be reached to overcome some of the issues. Mark stated that “It is fantastic that Lady Gaga has agreed to support us and some of the provocative fashion items that we will be asked to wear is a small price to pay for the deal that we are receiving.” The "Harlequin" pictured may turn a few heads in the coming years.
