Tranent and Preston Village Cricket Club

Tranent CC's 2012 season eventually drew to a close at a warm Mary Erskine School on Saturday. Thanks to a late withdrawal Tranent were invited to participate in the Legget & Coe Indoor 6's where they were drawn against Edinburgh University Blue and Edinburgh Region Academy (ERA). In the other group Edinburgh University Green, Carlton and Edinburgh Accies locked horns.

Upon winning the toss in the game against ERA we elected  to bat first and were rewarded with a couple of good wickets but despite bowling well the young students managed to score 58 in their 5 overs. In reply Tranent scored 14 off the first 4 balls but were undone due to a succession of run outs. We took the game to the last over but fell 9 runs short.

In game two we were invited to bowl but did not take the first wicket until the last ball leaving the University students on 55 for 1. Mark Anderson batted very well but again we fell short requiring a six from the last ball to tie.

The deserving tournament winners were ERA but Tranent performed well and can look forward with some confidence to the ESCA indoor league starting in February 2013.
