Tranent and Preston Village Cricket Club News story

2014 League Fixtures Announced

21 Jan 2014

The 2014 East of Scotland fixtures have just been announced and will see our 3rd XI face Glenrothes 4ths at Gilvenbank in Glenrothes. This will be their first competitive match which will see Tranent become only the second East Lothian side to enter a third XI into East of Scotland Cricket Leagues. Unfortunately the Belters will be the only East Lothian club entering three teams this year as Musselburgh have now reduced to two sides and Preston Village will join Haddington and Dunbar in fielding only the one side.

Tranent 2nd XI will compete in Division 9 of the East League where they will be in good company as this is the same league as the newly formed 3rd XI. The 2nd XI will start with the honour of playing the first comopetitive game at Meadowmill against Dunfermline 2nds.

As for the 1st XI they will compete in Division 6 this year following their 100% record and "promotion" from 2013. Unfortunately the 1st XI will still be competing in the 7th Division of the East Leagues as a Championship Division has been created with many of the clubs that competed in the CSL Eastern First Division last year. Tranent will play Melrose away in their opening game of 2014.
