Good news reaches us that Tranent CC have successfully applied to compete in the inaugural European Cricket Club Championship. Based in Copenhagen later this Summer Tranent will play sides from Nederlands, Switzerland, Denmark and South Africa.
Dissapointingly the competition competition will run in June which will clash with existing league and cup fixtures. Our management committee have requested that the league games are voided and all cup games are postponed until our club returns. Alternatively it was suggested that these games could be decided by Dice Cricket if that was acceptable to opposition Club Captains.
Club President, Amjad Shaikh, confirmed his delight at the news as a fantastic opportunity to promote the game and suggested that perhaps the European Cricket Council should look at forming a European Champions League in the near future to encourage more clubs in their ambition to appear on television. Amjad noted that he looked forward to seeing reports of progress on Reporting Scotland and Scotland Today.
