With the final league game shortly upon us, I felt it was appropriate to update you and give my thoughts at this crucial stage of the season. Most impressively, thanks to a tenacious ending to the season from the guys, they have lost only once in the last 6 matches. This form has propelled us into the promotion places where we can secure the jump into Division 8 with a win on Saturday. I am sure you’ll join me in wishing the 11 players that take the field on Saturday, the best of luck. They will also appreciate any support on what is the most momentous day in our short history if you can spare the time.
It has been a season of massive achievements for us already. Scott has outlined these in an earlier communication so I will not repeat them but I will highlight a few things of my own. It is very pleasing for me and as a club that we have started to gain representative honours. Aiden and Thomas recently turned out for East Lothian Under 15’s and by all accounts, acquitted themselves marvellously. My personal congratulations go to you both on this achievement and hopefully it is the first of many.
I would like to thank the committee at this juncture, for their efforts in running the club and providing the platform for the success we have experienced. On top of this, I would reserve special thanks to Mark Anderson and Callum McIntosh for running both the 1st and Development XI’s. The work Callum has done in preparing players for Mark to use in the 1st XI has shown good depth in the club’s squad. Something I’m sure most clubs of our level and higher would be envious of.
I would also like to pay tribute to our sponsors, G1 Group Plc for the their continued support. Although we display their brand Ghillie-Dhu, their support to us has been invaluable in giving us a further justification that we are a club here to stay.
I will give a further update when the season is over however I would like to finish with this. If we get the result this weekend then we will certainly be delighted that the hard work has paid off. However, with equal weighting, should the result not go our way then that will not detract from our season. I am immensely proud of the efforts from you all so win, lose or draw against Edinburgh South, you are all a huge credit to the club, the town and Scottish Cricket as a whole.
Good luck guys
