Tranent and Preston Village Cricket Club News story

End of Season

22 Sep 2011

Now the season has come to an end we can report that the 1st XI has been promoted from Division 9 but we cannot confirm to which league at this current time due to possible re-organisation of the Scottish National League. It has been a fantastic year as the performance have been quite outstanding with the vast majority of the side competing in their first ever season of competitive cricket. Mark Anderson finished the season as the division's top wicket taker and will therefore be up for the Divisional Award at the ESCA Awards Dinner. Other top performances from the Club saw Scott Russell finish 2nd and Mark Anderson finish 4th in the league runs stakes with Karthhick Prabhakaran and Piyush Sharma finishing 4th and 8th respectively in the division's top wicket taker.

The East Lothian Village League was unfortunately not completed this year due to an incredibly wet summer but our Development XI performed very well with wins against Bass Rock and Dunbar XI's. As we did not play Stenton & Tyninghame there is no winner of the competition for 2011 but given that the league is for player development this is no real problem.

The club played 35 games during the season winning 18 and losing 17. Forty three players represented us during these games. Not bad for a Bunch of Belters!!
