Tranent and Preston Village Cricket Club News story

Tranent Captaincy 2012

16 Mar 2012

Further to my previous e-mail I would firstly like to thank all of those who nominated for their prompt response.

The nominations were unanimous in favour of one player and therefore no vote was necessary. I have had the nominations verified by two other members of the committee. I am now happy to confirm that Scott Russell has accepted the position of Team Captain for the coming season. I am sure you will all join me in offering your support.

With regard to our departing Captain, Mr Mark (the human PA system) Anderson, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all the hard work he put in last year both on the pitch and behind the scenes on his own and in conjunction with other club members. During the course of Mark's captaincy he has worked tirelessley to promote cricket in Tranent, whether it be approaching schools or helping research in an attempt to acquire us a playing field. Probably the greatest legacy of his captaincy will be the time and effort he dedicated to the Junior section of the club. This is something from which the club will continue to reap the benefits and for this we thank him..

It is good to hear he is intending to continue an active role in the club, although he is not playing for us.

I am sure you will join me in wishing  him well with his new club.

Again, my congratulations to Scott and can’t wait for the new season.
