Progress made at North Berwick

On Thursday evening our 4th XI played their second East Lothian League game at Bass Rock which marked the opening game at the New Recreation Park.

Captain Anderson again opted for an inexperienced but youthful XI handing a debut to Collette Dance and Milan Stewart. Upon winning the toss Bass Rock chose to field and Anderson sent in father and daughter combination Paul and Collette to open, 24 runs later Collette was bowled but had made a noticeable contribution to the Tranent score. Junior Titans Gregor and Douglas Brunton were next in and played some terrific shots before both departing bowled. Further contributions were also made the most impressive being from Milan Stewart, another 12 year old making debut. The Tranent innings finally closing on 115 for 7 from the 20 overs.

In reply Bass Rock wobbled as youngsters Andrew Punton and Gregor Brunton removed the top order cheaply but these wicket taking exploits could not be replicated by the young Tranent side. Bass Rock requiring 3 from the last over closed the game out with three balls remaining however Captain Anderson must great pride in the way his young side performed. Next up will be Stenton & Tyninghame in 2 weeks.
