After last weekends games were cancelled due to the torrential rain, this weeks fixtures marked the first outings after the historic merger between Tranent and Preston Village Cricket Club.
The first XI travelled to Falkirk to play Westquarter and Redding. The hosts batted first and posted 213 from their 40 overs. Mark Anderson took 3-28 and Ravi Bhadrachala also taking 3 wickets for 30 runs. Dougie Russell took the other 2 wickets. In reply TPVCC could only post 157, an outstanding 79 from Kuntal Mukherjee. Loosing out by 56 runs.
Also on Saturday the thirds bagged their first victory of the season beating Glenrothes 3s by 23 runs. Mike Brunton (21) and Narayan Haran (38) were the top scorers and the pick of the bowlers were Chris Tait (5-14) and Gregor Brunton (2-8).
On Sunday, the second XI travelled to the picturesque Grange Loan to take on a strong youthful Carlton IV. The 2s won the toss and chose to bat first after a rocky start they were 28-3 but Saurabh Sethi (18) and Aiden Hoenigmann (28) put on a 50 partnership to steady the ship. At the end of the innings a solid 109 was the target. In reply Carlton got off to a flyer and easily knocked the runs off in 15 overs recording an 8 wicket win. John Barrett picked up the only two wickets with figures of 2-25.
The fourths also got their development league campaign underway on Sunday in the development league against East Lothian CC. ELCC posted 226 from their 30 overs and in reply TVPCC posted 95, meaning a loss of 131 runs.
Tonight the firsts host the Woodcutters and at the TCG in the Parks Trophy, 6pm start. Then three games on Saturday the firsts host haddington at the TCG in a local derby. The seconds host Kirk Brae 2s at Polwarth and the thirds are away to Musselburgh again another local derby. On Sunday the fourths are also away to Musselburgh.
