Tranent and Preston Village Cricket Club News story

Cup Progress

It appears weekend cricket is off the agenda due to the extreme weather however TCC were able to play their ESCA Plate Q/F on Tuesday Evening at Goldenacre. It must be noted however that this was largely due to the hard work of the Heriots groundsman who quite clearly had spent hours trying to prepare a wicket.

Upon winning the toss TCC invited the hosts to bat and opened with Anderson and Sardar. Both bowlers followed the captains instructions and bowled very tidily making run scoring very difficult. Jose replaced Anderson and by the 10th over Heriots III were 30 for 4. Adnan and Fahad Ali were brought into the attack and Anderson rejoined the attack to bowl his last 2 overs. Heriots accelerated to 68 for 8 in their 20 overs but this was going to be avery difficult target to defend.

Adnan and Fahad opened the Tranent account and had scored quick runs before Fahad edged behind. Fahim also edged the same bowler behind in a video repeat before the Anderson played a few big shots and won the game for Tranent in the 11th over.

This was yet another solid performance by the team who are learning more about league and cup cricket week by week. Tranent will now host Murrayfield DAFS III in the semi final.
