Report from the West Linton Gordons;
History was made as WLG staged their first ever home match against Tranent
at Beeslack Penicuik.
Losing 2 men an hour before stumps and two bowlers
didn't help . However in truth the 9 men of WLG were outbated ,outbowled and
totally outfielded .
The fielding from Tranent was breathtaking a truly brilliant one handed
catch, which had 4 written all over, to dismiss Pete Walker and 2 direct hits
to run out Roger and Julian.No cheap singles and not a single boundary.. In
contrast WLG typical dolly droppers , balls through the gate (guilty), crap
throws suggesting the long lay had not affected our natural form.
In fairness most of our bowlers bowled well apart from the odd wide or 2,or
3,or 4.and most got wickets, Bowled, stumped or LBW of course - no chance of a
catch.
Both keepers were a class act for us Charlie manage to shore up the innings
after an impressive spell behind the stumps but like the rest of us couldn't get
on top of some excellent Tranent bowling.
This match as always against Tranent was played in excellent spirit.
