We are delighted to announce that plans are now underway for Tranent Cricket Club to come home for season 2013. The Tranent & District Community Sports Club made representation to East Lothian Council and Enjoy Leisure recently where discussions were held to the viability of such a proposal. Agreement has now been reached in principal for cricket to be played at Ross High playing fields next season.
The Community Sports Club and the Cricket Club must now fund the proposals which will see the existing rugby club floodlights relocated, the creation of a grass and artificial wicket and the creation of cricket practice bays.
Club President Fiona Russell noted that “This is a fantastic opportunity for the club to establish themselves within the heart of the community. We have been playing home games in Edinburgh or Dunbar and have no access to training facilities. The Tranent Titans junior section will benefit from this as we will now have an opportunity to coach on a proper playing surface and we can now look to host other junior sections from across Scotland.”
Roddy Smith, Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland stated "Cricket Scotland are delighted that TCC have been able to find a permanent home. Since their formation the club have been using facilities outside the town and now with a ground at Ross High they can continue their impressive recent strides forward. TCC are a fantastic example of a thriving community cricket club and we look forward to assisting them as they progress."
